History
Technical Equipment Sales (TES) was founded near Cincinnati in 1952 by Richard Robinson. Initially, a distributor of traditional milling and turning product lines, including Leblond lathes, the company quickly established itself as a leading source of improved productivity when it began selling the earliest models of numeric control and electrical discharge machines from Pratt & Whitney a few years later.
Around 1982, TES shifted its entire focus towards CNC machine tool technology. In 1985, the Doosan (formerly Daewoo) line of CNC machines was added to its products portfolio and Technical Automation, a GMF Robotics Integrator, was born. The company's commitment to embrace evolving technologies had become clearly evident to manufacturers seeking competitive advantage.
In 1992, TES was acquired by Morris Group,Inc., the largest fully integrated supplier of machine tools and related engineering and support services in North America. Throughout the 1990's, parts supply, field service and applications engineering received priority attention in order to provide the highest level of support to customers. TES's role in the market exanded again in 2001 when it acquired the distribution rights to Makino machine tools.
